Optimise B1, Unit 10 - Language in Use (Open cloze)

Those of you who managed ​ (a)   read my last blog post will know that this week I have been trying to make my first podcast. I needed somewhere quiet to record it, so when my parents told me they were going out on Saturday I knew that this was my chance ​ (b)   record it at home.

Exciting news in this week's blog - I got an electric guitar for my birthday! I have always wanted to write a song and now I have the chance ​ (a)   do it! I was worried that my parents wouldn't let me play at home but they have told me that I am ​ (b)   to practise at home, but only if I wear headphones.

I watched some videos on YouTube and after three days I was ​ (a)   to play part of Fly Away by Lenny Kravitz. Amazing! Unfortunately, I didn't ​ (b)   to find the rest of the song anywhere, so I couldn't play any more. Then I started writing my first song. If I had had more time I probably ​ (c)   have finished it. It's called Curious Minds.

I know how to play the music but I don't know how to write it down. | ​ (a)   I had paid more attention in music class when I was younger! If the classes ​ (b)   been more interesting, I'm sure I would have learnt more.

At least I know that I'm capable ​ (a)   writing something. If ​ (b)   I knew how to sing! Fortunately, my best friend Nicola is a great singer and the best news is that my parents are going to allow ​ (c)   to play out loud with my friends at the weekend. So that should be amazing!

If I had known how difficult it was, I would ​ (a)   practised a lot more before! At least I know now that I am capable ​ (b)   using the equipment, but I need to spend more time practising. I think if I ​ (c)   had three hours more I might have finished! So, I'm sorry readers, you'll have to wait another week to hear my first podcast!

I ​ (a)   the neighbours had gone out too because in the first recording I could hear them walking up and down and talking. I tried to remove the noise with my sound-editing program but I wasn't able ​ (b)   do it very well. If only I ​ (c)   enough money to pay for a proper recording studio!

Anyway, at school on Monday I asked if I would be allowed ​ (a)   use a classroom when the classes had finished. Fortunately, my maths teacher, Mr Roberts ​ (b)   me use his classroom for one hour. I set up my camera and started recording, but I kept making mistakes.
