Surah Fussilat Part 1

▪️ Which of the following is NOT among the names of Surah Fussilat:

• ➖ Surah As-Saa’iqah (thunderbolt)

• ➖ Surah Al-Awqaat (sustenance)

▪️ Who did the Prophet (SAW) recite this Surah upon when he came to the Prophet (SAW) to negotiate with him to leave his religion? The man was terrified from it and put his hand over the Prophet (SAW)’s mouth and pleaded with him to stop reciting it. 

• ➖ Utbah bin Rabi’ah

• ➖ Umayyah bin Khalaf

• ➖ Al-Waleed bin Al-Mughira

▪️ In Ayah 26 of Surah Fussilat, what does the phrase والغوا فيه mean? 

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَا تَسْمَعُوا۟ لِهَـٰذَا ٱلْقُرْءَانِ وَٱلْغَوْا۟ فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَغْلِبُونَ

▪️ In Ayah 29 of Surah Fussilat, who is being referred to with the word ٱلَّذَيْنِ?

وَقَالَ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ رَبَّنَآ أَرِنَا ٱلَّذَيْنِ أَضَلَّانَا مِنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ نَجْعَلْهُمَا تَحْتَ أَقْدَامِنَا لِيَكُونَا مِنَ ٱلْأَسْفَلِينَ

▪️ In Ayah 25 of Surah Fussilat, what does the word قضينا mean? 

وَقَيَّضْنَا لَهُمْ قُرَنَآءَ فَزَيَّنُوا۟ لَهُم مَّا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلُ فِىٓ أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ خَـٰسِرِينَ

• ➖ We prepared/destined it for them

▪️ You know the difference in meaning between Ayah 14 and Ayah 25 of Surah Fussilat. 

Ayah 14:

إِذْ جَآءَتْهُمُ ٱلرُّسُلُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ ۖ قَالُوا۟ لَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّنَا لَأَنزَلَ مَلَـٰٓئِكَةً فَإِنَّا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ كَـٰفِرُونَ

Ayah 25: 

وَقَيَّضْنَا لَهُمْ قُرَنَآءَ فَزَيَّنُوا۟ لَهُم مَّا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَحَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْقَوْلُ فِىٓ أُمَمٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ وَٱلْإِنسِ ۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا۟ خَـٰسِرِينَ

▪️ Ayah 16 of Surah Fussilat is similar to an Ayah in which Surah?

▪️ Ayah 18 of Surah Fussilat:

وَنَجَّيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ يَتَّقُونَ

is almost identical to an Ayah in Surah ………, and both Ayaat speak about Allah SWT’s fulfillment of ………. .

▪️ In Ayah 19 of Surah Fussilat, what does the word يوزعون mean? 

وَيَوْمَ يُحْشَرُ أَعْدَآءُ ٱللَّهِ إِلَى ٱلنَّارِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَ

• ➖ They are distributed 

• ➖ The first of them are forced to wait for the last, then they will be pushed into various punishments

• ➖ They are rushed to enter Hellfire
