Answer explanation

After Brown v. Board of Education was passed, The Little Rock Nine integrated Central High School in 1957. They wanted to attend schools that were equal, not the unequal black schools they had been attending. A group of students, including Ernest Green, signed up to be the first to integrate the high school. They knew that it would be a challenge, but they thought that because Little Rock had integrated other parts of society that it wouldn’t be as bad as it was. On the first day, the nine students faced resistance and oppositions from white segregationists who didn’t want black people to integrate. Governor Fabus even ordered the National Guard to block the Little Rock Nine from entering the school. Once they finally got into the school, students were taunted and harassed. Every day the Little Rock Nine had to use mental strength and a strong commitment to nonviolence to not respond to the constant anger and violence from other students and community members who didn’t support integration.
