Penguin is one of birds that can’t fly. We can see the penguins at the zoo, also in their natural habitat, but it’s difficult to do. Their front body color is white and their back color is usually black and some of them have yellowish at their face. Penguins belongs to Aves. There are six subgroups and about 18 species of penguin around the world.

Penguins have long bills that are naturally narrow. Their legs are short, and have four forward pointing toes. When on land, penguins hop or waddle. In snow, they often slide quickly on their stomachs and use their wings and feet to direct and propel themselves. When diving, penguins often launch themselves upward out of the water and then dive back beneath the surface. Penguin able to live in the coldest part of the world. Other species live very close to equator where it is quite warm. Some penguin live on thick sheets of ice most of the time due to the extremely cold weather. Others live on sandy beaches and small islands.

One of the penguin species is Emperor Penguins. Emperor penguins is the biggest penguin because they can reach until 1,1 m tall, and 35 kg in weight. When the Emperor penguins is the biggest, the Little Blue Penguin (Eudyptula Minor) also known as the Fairy Penguin, is the smallest penguin which stands around 40 cm tall and 1 kg in weight.

When breeding season, penguins try to reach the tip of iceberg to find a mate. After meeting the couple, a few weeks later the female penguins lay eggs. The male penguins take over to keep the eggs until it hatched for about 4 months. While the female penguins return to the sea look for the food.
