Alliteration

• Repeated consonant sounds at the beginning of words placed near each other, usually on the same or adjacent lines. 
• Repeated vowel sounds placed near each other
• Not being able to fully comprehend certain literature
• A literal situation

Repetition

• Words that sound like their meanings
• A series of musically pleasant sounds
• The purposeful re-use of words and phrases for an effect
• Words that sound like their meanings

Rhyme

• words that do not sounds the same
• When words do not sound the same but are spelled similar
• Requires patterns that are sometimes called Meters
• Words that have different beginning sounds but whose endings sound alike

Rhythm

• Words that convey a certain meaning
• A pattern used in poetry to give it more distinction
• a beat
• "Rain drops, drop top"

Rhyme Scheme

• The pattern established by the arrangement of of rhymes in a stanza or poem. 
• When the words in a poem rhyme
• When the entire poem rhymes
• A poem that has a pattern of rhyming words

Free Verse

• A poem that contains lines with no pattern or structure
• A song that can be bought for free
• Verses of a poem that have no meaning
• Lines of a poem that were written with no real purpose
