Why is the whole town laughing at Erik after the first football game?

• Erik starts to cry on the sidelines when he learns that Antoine will be holding the ball for his kicks. He has been practicing with Arthur and feels more confident with him holding the ball. Other players see him cry and spread the news around the school and town that Erik cried.
