Who gives Katniss the gold mockingjay pin to wear in the Hunger Games? Why is this important? 

• Madge- the mockingjay represents a tool used by the Capitol to spy on the residents, but ending up being up used by the rebels to fool the Capitol. This also shows that they were truly friends.

• Katniss's mother- it shows that she had the money to provide Prim and Katniss with food the whole time, but hid it from them.

• Gale- He knows that she will be able to trade it for food and weapons in the arena.
