Siyyid Ali Muhammad Shirazi born in Persia, 1819. Took the tile "Bab," which means "Gate". Descendant of Abraham through Hagar. Descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. 1844: announced he had received a revelation from God. Wrote 500,000 verse of spiritual writings. Declared a new prophet was coming soon - promised messiah of world religions. 1850: executed by firing squad (Baha'i).

1817: Mirza Husayn Ali Nuri born in Tehran. Descendant of Abraham & Zoroaster. 1844: followed the Bab. 1852: arrested, begins receiving "sacred writings". 1863: publicly proclaims himself the Promised One of all world religions and the Manifestation of God for this era (Baha'i).
