The perspective of Pontianak’s name

The name of Pontianak is derived from many perspective, there are;

Firstly,  The word Pontianak is derived from a folklore. It tells about that the name of Pontianak is begun from the word “kuntilanak” which means beautiful female ghosts.

Secondly, The word Pontianak is derived from a malay folklore. It is explained that the fundamental  name of Pontianak comes from Ayunan Anak”.

Thirdly, The word Pontianak is derived from the name of a tree. It is called as punti tree or pohon punti.

Fourthly, the name of Pontianak is derived from the word “Pontien” which means perhentian.

Fifthly, the word pontianak is derived from the word “kun tian”. it is come from mandarin language which means tempat perhentian.

From the perspective above, it is obvious that the word Pontianak does not come from one aspect only, but it has many aspects as well
