PHES NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Question 1:Self-Assessed Skill Level When thinking about your day to day classroom instruction, rate the following question on a scale of 1-5. How often throughout the day do you use technology as a vital part of your instruction for whole group, small group, or independent work? This will help me to know the current usage of technology as a staff.

• 1- Never I prefer paper and pencil.
• 2- Very Little: I use mostly paper and pencil but use basic technology like the smart board and computer.
• 3- Sometimes: I am about 50/50 I use a mix of technology and paper and pencil.
• 4- Quite Often: I use technology on a daily basis as part of my instruction and have found many structured ways to integrate it into my lessons when neccessary.
• 5- All Day Everyday: I always use technology and I consider myself and expert. Therefore my students very rarely use paper and pencil.

Question 2: Teacher Beliefs When thinking about your day to day classroom instruction, rate the following question on a scale of 1-5. How important is using technology in the classroom as part of daily instruction to you? This will help me to know the current views on importance of technology as a staff.

• 1- Not important at all
• 2- Some importance but not a priority
• 3- Depends on the circumstances but has some importance
• 4- Technology is important and should be integrated whenever approriate.
• 5- Technology is AMAZING and I already use a wide variety of tools with my students.

Question 3: Tech Use & Integration When thinking about your day to day classroom instruction. Select all of the ways below that you integrate technology into your instruction. This will help me to know how you typically use technology in your classroom so that I can share personalized resources to help you on an individual basis.

• Whole Group/ Teacher Use (Smartboard, Document Camera, etc.)
• Small Groups (Student Devices, Collaborative Projects, etc.)
• Independent Work (Independent Practice, Ebooks, Listening Center, etc.)
• I don't use technology. I prefer pencil and paper and that works best for me.

Question 4: Tech Use & Integration Please list your top 5 TECHNOLOGY tools that can't live without! IF you do not use technology at this time type- N/A. This is the physical tools (i.e. Smartboard, Ipad, Computer, Document Camera, etc.) This will help me to know the technology tools that the staff are most comfortable with and where I can build on current knowledge as well as share new resources!

Question 5:Tech Use & Integration Please list your top 5 DIGITAL tools that can't live without! IF you do not use technology at this time type- N/A. This is digital tools/apps (i.e. Canva, Google Slides, Nearpod, Brainpop,etc.) This will help me to know the digital tools that the staff are most comfortable with and where I can build on current knowledge as well as share new resources! (I know, I know, you are probably thinking only 5?. YES, you can list more than 5.)

Question 6: Self-Assessed Skill Level Have you heard of the ISTE Standards for Educators and Students? If so, how comfortable do you feel with applying these standards in your day to day technology integration? This will help me to know the current use of ISTE Standards and provide opportunities for me to help you integrate technology into your instruction.

• Yes, I have heard of ISTE Standards and I feel comfortable using them on a daily basis.
• Yes, I have heard of ISTE Standards and I feel some what comfortable and attempt to use them occassionally.
• Yes, I have heard of ISTE Standards and I either don't have time and/or I don't know how to integrate them into my instruction.

Question 7: Barriers to Access & Teacher Beliefs What would you say is an area that needs the MOST improvement (Barrier) in the school as far as technology/media? Type in the section titled "Other" if you have a more pressing need that should be addressed. ***(These are just Scenarios- they may not actually be the case but this is based on your assessment of where you think the school is lacking in technology).***

• I believe the Modems/Routers are outdated causing slow internet/wifi speeds and connection in my classroom.
• I feel that mine or my students devices are outdated and no longer work as efficiently
• I feel that repairs and distribution of student and staff devices takes an extremely long time.
• I feel that we do not have enough excess devices on hand to use when needed.
• I believe that there is not frequent updating of the school website or social media page

Question 8: Needs, Wants, and Teacher Beliefs What would you say is an area that needs the LEAST improvement in the school as far as technology/media? • I believe that Modems/Routers are up to date and I have acceptable internet/wifi speeds and connection in my classroom.
• I feel that teacher and student devices are up to date.
• I feel that we recieve repairs and distribution of devices in a timely manner.
• I feel we have enough excess devices are available to use when needed
• I feel that the Social Media and Webpage are up to date
