Mark’s Marvelous World of Toys is a new company that has opened a factory in Florence, Kentucky. They have hired 750 new employees. Many families have moved to the area to work there.

The geology class was excited to learn they would get to take a field trip up to the crater of Mount St. Helens in the state of Washington to see the impact of the 1980’s eruption.

In Paradise, California, a fire destroyed the town. To help the forest recover after the fire destroyed much of the land, the Stevenson family planted 200 trees.

Our class received a new student today.  She and her family recently moved to our city because the Marshall Islands, where she is from, are sinking and they needed a new place to live.

Our class just finished a unit on refugees.  We were disheartened to learn that so many of them came from Syria, in the Middle East.

Sandy’s new school was 3 blocks from her dad’s new job.  She was excited that she could walk to his office after school each day.

Last year Sara’s neighborhood was destroyed by a tornado.  She and her family have been living with her grandparents.  The company working on rebuilding the community said their new house will be ready next week and will be more stable than before.

 Denise’s family  is originally from Mexico.  Her family moved to California before she was born, then back to Mexico when she was three and finally to Minnesota when she was seven.

 Damien’s family is going to Singapore for a family vacation. He is super excited as this will be his first time traveling by airplane. They will fly from New York to Singapore City.
