What happens during a Lockdown drill? (formerly known as "Code Red")

• Building doors are locked, and all students and staff move into areas of safety

• Students go to the cafeteria

• "You can't handle the drill!"

• Students go to the library

What is the Shelter-in-Place Procedure used for?

• When there is a birthday party

• When there is a chemical, biological, or radiological incident outside but in proximity to the school

• When there is a school play

• When there is a sports event

Move students to a secure location behind a lockable door, lock the doors, turn off lights, cover windows, enforce silence, and ensure the room looks and sounds unoccupied.

During a Shelter-in-Place, what actions should staff take if they are indoors?

• Evacuate the building immediately

• Lock, and when possible, seal all exterior opening doors and windows, tape inside opening classroom doors, conduct staff and student accounting, and continue instruction while ensuring proper student behavior

When is the Reverse Evacuation Protocol used?

• During the process of bringing individuals back into a building or area that was previously evacuated.
