The Proboscis Monkey, also known as the Bekantan, is a species of Old World monkey native to the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia. It is easily recognizable due to its large nose, reddish-brown fur, and long tail.

Male Proboscis Monkeys have larger noses than females, which they use to attract mates.

These monkeys live in mangrove forests, swamps, and along rivers. They are excellent swimmers and often leap from tree to tree. Proboscis Monkeys are primarily herbivorous, feeding on leaves, fruits, and seeds, though they occasionally eat insects.

Proboscis Monkeys live in groups that typically consist of one adult male, several females, and their offspring. They communicate using a range of vocalizations and facial expressions. Unfortunately, the Proboscis Monkey is an endangered species due to deforestation and habitat loss.
