William Shakespeare, born in Stratford-upon-Avon, is one of history's greatest authors. Despite uncertain birth details, he likely attended the King School. He married Anne Hathaway and had three children. Moving to London in the late 1580s, he became a successful playwright and actor. By 1597, he had written 15 plays, including 'Romeo and Juliet.' Shakespeare was also a savvy businessman, building the Globe Theater in 1599. His works include comedies, tragedies, and histories, with famous phrases still used today. He wrote 154 sonnets and introduced many words to English. Despite debates, most scholars credit him with his works. His influence remains profound, second only to the Bible in quotations.
