Construct a parallelogram PQRS such that, PQ = 8 cm, QR = 6 cm, PR = 7. Can you draw a unique parallelogram with given measures?

Yes

No

Answer explanation

Media Image

We have been given that quadrilateral PQRS is a parallelogram. In parallelogram opposite sides are equal and parallel. So, in parallelogram PQRS, PQ = RS, QR = PS We have also been given lengths of two sides and one diagonal of the parallelogram. Using this information along with the properties of parallelogram it is possible to construct a unique parallelogram PQRS. Steps of Construction: Step I: Draw ∆PQR using SSS construction condition. Step II: With reference to diagonal PR, point S will be opposite to point Q. S is 8 cm away from R. So, with R as centre, draw an arc of radius 8 cm. Step III: S is 6 cm away from P. So, with P as centre, draw an arc of radius 6 cm. Step IV: S should lie on both the arcs. That means it must be the point of intersection of the two arcs. Mark S and complete PQRS. PQRS is the required parallelogram. So, with given measures the parallelogram PQRS can be constructed.
