What is the Identity property of Multiplication

• When you multiply a number by 1 the product is that number.

  ex: 2 x 1 = 2

• When you multiple a number by 0 the product is 0.

  ex: 100 x 0 = 0

• You can change the order you multiple numbers but the product doesn't change.

  3x5= 15

  5x3=15

• When you group factors to multiply. the group doesn't change the product.

  ex: (3 x 4) x 2 =24

  3 x (4 x 2) = 24
