MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

3 mins • 10 pts

The rain had started just before they arrived, and now it poured down in sheets, drumming on the roof of the car. The headlights illuminated the dark road ahead, but Rachel couldn’t shake the feeling of dread settling in her stomach. She glanced over at Peter, who was driving in silence, his jaw clenched tight as he gripped the wheel, "You’re really going through with this, aren’t you?" Rachel’s voice broke through the tension in the car. She hadn’t meant to sound so accusatory, but it slipped out anyway. Peter was annoyed and didn’t answer immediately. He kept his eyes focused on the road, but Rachel knew that silence wasn’t a good sign. After a moment, he spoke, his voice low and controlled. "I don’t have a choice, Rach. You know that." Rachel’s chest tightened. She did know. She knew better than anyone what he was about to do, and yet she couldn’t stop the flood of fear that rushed over her. "You always have a choice," she muttered. Peter glanced at her briefly, his face hard. "You don’t get it. This is the only way." Still, the fear gnawed at her as the rain turned into a violent thunderstorm.

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

The old clock tower in the center of the village struck midnight, its deep chimes echoing through the empty streets. Alice stood in front of the bakery, staring at the light in the window, but her mind was far away. She had been here every night for the past month, unable to let go of the past. The bakery had been her mother's, and now, with her mother gone, it felt as though the whole town had turned against her. No one had come to buy her pastries. No one cared. Inside the bakery, Mark was cleaning the counters, his thoughts heavy with guilt. He had wanted to help Alice, had wanted to tell her he was sorry for all the years they had spent avoiding each other. But every time he tried, something stopped him. Perhaps it was fear of rejection, or perhaps it was the knowledge that the damage was too great to fix. As the last crumbs disappeared into the rag, he looked out the window and saw her standing there. Her face was unreadable, but he could see the pain in her eyes.

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

The classroom was quiet, except for the soft scratching of pencils against paper. Mia sat at her desk, staring at the test in front of her. The words on the page blurred together, and the questions seemed to mock her. She had studied, hadn’t she? But now, everything seemed to slip out of her mind the moment she needed it. “Are you done already?” a voice whispered from behind her. It was Caleb, leaning over her shoulder. She stiffened, but didn’t look up.“I am not finished yet,” Mia muttered, trying to focus on the next question, but the words were still just shapes on the page. Caleb grinned, knowing exactly how to push her buttons. “Come on Mia. You’re smarter than this. You’ve got this in the bag.”Mia bit her lip, fighting the urge to snap at him. She didn’t have it. She couldn’t focus, couldn’t remember the formulas, couldn’t make sense of anything. The pressure of the test felt unbearable, the ticking clock a constant reminder of how little time she had left and she felt swirling in her own stomach.

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION

As the meeting room filled with murmurs, the executives sat around the polished oak table, their faces a mixture of apprehension and impatience. Claire, sitting at the far end, tried to keep her cool, but beneath her composed exterior, her mind was racing. She had worked her entire career for this moment, and now, with the fate of the company hanging in the balance, she wasn’t sure if it would be enough. She glanced at her colleague, Adam and whispered, “How are you doing?” Adam’s eyes were glued to the projection screen. He was nervous too, but for different reasons. He was too proud to admit it, but the pressure was eating away at him. Sitting in the corner, Mark, the CEO, watched them all with an air of detachment. His mind was elsewhere, he was tired and overwhelmed with work and his own health issues. His thoughts were interrupted by a soft chime, the beginning of the presentation. He straightened his posture and put on the face of a leader.
