Lee-White Method

• Maintained at constant temperature

• Examined regularly until clotting

• Can also be in capillary tubes

Clotting Time (Lee & White)

I. Rinse the sterile syringe, needle, and the three test tubes with NSS

II.Label the test tibes -1,2,3

III.Withdraw 4cc of blood, record the 1st appearance of blood in the syrinnge

IV.Remove the needle, and slowly place 1ml of blood in each of the three test tubes

V.After 3 minutes, slowly tilt the tubes, at 30 seconds interval alternatively 1st and 2nd tube until coagulation has taken place

VI. Time elapsed from the 1st appearance of blood in the syring and clot formation in the 3rd tube is the coagulation time
