Bekantan is a reddish - brown monkey with a long and big nose. Its weight is about 6 - 22 kilograms. Its height is around 55 to 76 cm. Bekantan is Probosics monkey. It means a long - nosed monkey. Its scientific name is Nasalis Larvatus. Bekantans are from Borneo. We can find them in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei. Bekantans are used as the ion of Banjarmasin , South Kalimantan. We can find these monkeys in Borneo forest. Specially in mangroves. They live in mangrove trees. They spending most of their time in trees.

The fact is Bekantan are grouped as arboreal animals. It is animals that eat,sleep, and play in trees. But Bekantans sometimes go down to the forest floor. They move with their limbs. It means move with their hands and feet. So, they can climb,hang, and move around with their limbs. They also are a good swimmers. They can swim well because they have a skin membrane on their feet and hands like frogs.
