Week 7 Genesis 6:1-8 Respect for boundaries

Question 1: How did the sons of God view the daughters of men (v. 2)?

• The sons of God viewed the daughters of men as beautiful.
• The sons of God saw the daughters of men as unworthy.
• The sons of God ignored the daughters of men.

Question 2 - What did the sons of God do?

• The sons of God built a tower.

Question 3: Why do you think that this made God angry?

• God was angry due to a lack of worship rituals.
• God was angry due to disobedience or actions contrary to His will.

Question 4: What was the punishment that God gave to humans as a result in verse 3?

Question 5: The word “Nephilites” could means giants or simply “fallen ones”.  If they had fallen, what boundary did they cross to cause them to fall?

Question 8: The word “favour” means “grace”. This is the FIRST time the word grace is used in the Bible!  Noah did not earn God’s favour, but received God’s favour freely.  How does this contrast to the actions of other humans who lived at the same time?

• Other humans sought to earn God's favour through their actions, unlike Noah who received it freely.
• Noah earned God's favour through his good deeds, unlike others.
• Other humans received God's favour without any effort, just like Noah.

Question 10: How is Eve’s sin similar to the sons of God here in this passage?
