English 10B Classroom Policies and Procedures

The retake policy in English 10B allows students to:

• redo all activities and assessments for a better grade.

• retake summative assessments until an A is achieved.

• engage in a relearning plan and then retest.

• retest only at teacher request.

The timeline for retakes is

• anytime during the 12 week period.

• a request to retest within one week of the summative grade.

• within the 6 week term

• within 24 hours of the assessment and only after a meeting.

Grades will be based upon

• only summative assessments.

• an average of grades and retakes.

• only formative assessments.

• graded formative and summative assessments.

Retakes are

• at the teacher's discretion.

• a replacement plan when studying doesn't happen.

• a good way to learn the material.

• never allowed.

The employability grade is based upon

• respect, communication, timeliness and preparedness.

• the skills a student has acquired in a field of study.

• classroom learning.

• one's likeability.

Cellphone use in the classroom is

• not allowed, per school board policy.

• allowed during freetime only.

• only allowed for listening to music and playing games.

• allowed during worktime.

Unauthorized use of cellphones in the classroom will result in

• a trip to the office for candy.

• a stern "talking to"

• 3-strikes and "you're out!

• Phone placed on teacher's desk for the hour - 1st time

  Student delivers phone to the office thereafter.

Cellphones should

• always be visible in the classroom.

• left on the student's desk

• be stored either in a chromebook/bag, on the back shelf, or in a locker

• be used regularly in class.

Chromebooks should be used for:

• looking up cool gift ideas on Amazon.

• assigned activities in the classroom.

• unauthorized access to games and videos during class.

• looking up the lunch menu during an assessment.

Materials required for this class are:

• a cellphone, folder, paper, and crayons.

• Paper or a notebook, pen or pencil, a folder, and a charged chromebook.

• a Trapper-keeper and a box of Kleenex.

• not needed.
