Peter and the "Haunted" House

Peter was a cheerful boy, and today was a big day. He was moving with his parents to a new house. All his things were packed, and he waited for the car to come. The new house was big and fancy, with everything Peter could dream of. It even had a big backyard where he could play with his friends. Peter was thrilled to start living there.

When they arrived, the neighbors told them the house was haunted. But Peter’s family didn’t believe it and moved in anyway. Peter was excited to meet new friends, but no one came to visit. Everyone in the neighborhood was scared of the house and stayed away. Peter felt sad, but his mom explained, “People are just afraid now. Once they see there’s no ghost, they’ll come to play.” Peter agreed to wait.

One night, while Peter was sleeping, he heard strange noises coming from the attic. It sounded like something was moving. Scared, Peter screamed for his parents. He was sure it was a ghost and feared it would harm him. His parents rushed to his room. Shaking, Peter told them about the noise. To calm him, his dad decided to check the attic.

Peter’s dad climbed up and discovered something unexpected—a small mouse running around! The noise Peter heard was just the mouse. When Peter saw the mouse, he burst into laughter. For a moment, he truly believed it was a ghost. His parents smiled and told him, “See? There’s no such thing as ghosts.”

Why was Peter excited to move to the new house?

It was small and cozy.

It had a big backyard.

His friends already lived there.

He loved packing his things.
