What is Conscious Discipline?

• A method of punishing students for misbehaviour.

• A strategy that encourages pausing before reacting to situations.

• A technique for assigning consequences to students.

• A system where teachers control all classroom decisions.

You may use the following strategies to manage misbehaviours. (You may choose more than one answers.)

• Verbalise what you notice to get more of the positive behaviours.

• Be assertive when giving commands and know the difference between requests and commands.

• Give two positive choices and show students the intended behaviours.

• Shout at students to make them quiet and tell them the expected behaviours.

• When we feel triggered, pause, take a deep breath and remove ourselves from the situation to keep calm.

What to do if all strategies fail?

• Make the students stand outside the classroom while you continue to teach.

• Stop the lesson and run away from class.

• Stop, keep calm and call the Subject Leads, AA Team Leads, SA Team Leads or Coordinators for help.

• Shout and scold the whole class for a few students' misbehaviours.

How do we ensure submission of homework or assignment? (You may choose more than one answers.)

• Get Homework Manager to write the homework reminder on the whiteboard.

• Post the list of students who did not submit assignments or bring book in

  Parents Telegram Group.

• Get students to write the homework reminder in their communication book.

• Message to parents of students privately once the students exceeded three times of incomplete or missing homework.

• Make students write "I will finish my homework." multiple times (10 to 100 times) on a piece of paper.

The following is correct regarding cover and swap lesssons EXCEPT

• Kindly inform Head of School (Ms Allison Poh) directly (via Telegram) if you are taking any leave of absence before 6.30am on that day.

• Message the Primary Admin, Ms. Shu Zhing directly without waiting for approval from HOS, Ms. Allison

• Forward the messages sent to HOS to Primary Admin, Ms. Shu Zhing for arrangement of covers AFTER the approval from HOS. (forward or attach message of approval as evidence.)

• Kindly notify the AA Team Lead, Ms. Tracy via Telegram in advance regarding any independently arranged lesson swaps, along with the reason for the adjustment.

• If a cover is already arranged for the same time as the swapped lessons and the AA Team Leads are not informed via Telegram, the assigned cover will take priority.

The following is true about the Reading Programme EXCEPT

• The Reading Programme runs daily from 7.20am to 7.45am.

• The students are allowed to play chess during Reading Programme time.

• All students are required to read Chinese-language books on Wednesdays and Malay-language books on Thursdays.

• If there are students consistently use Reading Programme time to do incomplete homework, please notify the parents about incomplete homework.
