While waiting to come into class, what should the line look/sound like?

• Mayhem and Loudness

• Straight, silent, safe, close to the wall but not against the wall

• Middle of the hallway, chatting softly

When entering the classroom, what is the procedure?

• Ask Mrs. James what we are doing today

• Sit and do nothing

• Talk to your neighbors until Mrs. James reminds you what to do

• Read the board, do whatever you need to to get ready for class

What should you do if you don't have a book to read during independent reading?

• Scream at the top of your lungs that you don't have a book

• You should ALWAYS have a book to read (and a back up in case you finish one book)

• Nothing. Sit and do nothing during independent reading

• Choose a book from the shelf after 5 minutes of independent reading

When listening to instructions (or, honestly, to anyone speaking), what should you do?

• Talk to your neighbors

• Go to the restroom

• Hands on table, nothing in them; leaning forward toward the speaker; eyes on the speaker

• Go get water

When is it ok to go to the restroom? Do you need to tell Mrs. James?

• Only during independent work, just turn the light on/off

• Whenever you want to

• While Mrs. James is reading aloud
