(A conversation over the radio)
Maya: The countryside is excellent for extreme sports because of its massive open spaces. So where do urban adrenalin seekers go to get their remedy? Parkour, sometimes known as “free running”, is quickly gaining popularity in London. France is the origin of parkour. The goal is to go from one location to another as quickly as possible by avoiding or overcoming obstacles along the path, such as by leaping or climbing over them. To learn more about parkour, I decided you to attend a class in West London. For over a year, Kevin Smith has been training in parkour. Now, here is Kevin with us.
Maya: What is it about parkour that you like so much, Kevin?
Kevin: It’s a great way to get in shape. It’s creative, and I like doing it. I came because of this
Maya: what kind of tools are required to do parkour?
Kevin: Not too much. We simply utilize the stairs, railings and trees in the area, but if you have a decent pair of running shoes, you should be fine
Maya: How hard is it?
Kevin: I wouldn’t call it challenging; instead, it’s the fear that makes it so. If you have no fear, you will succeed
Maya: I’m not sure I have the balance for parkour, Kevin. Extreme sports include both potential dangers and rewards. Thank you for your time. You inspire us a lot.
