Sam Houston

• Texas Attorney General
• Spanish leader in the Texan revolution, later became vice-president of Texas
• 1803-1857
• Commander in chief of the Texas army ,later elected 1st president of the Republic of Texas

David Burnet

• Vice President of the Republic of Texas. Signed treaties of Velasco representing Republic of Texas.
• place where the Texans defeated the Mexican army, captured Santa Anna.
• Mayor of San Antonio during Texas Revolution.
• (1836) Final battle of the Texas Revolution; resulted in the defeat of the Mexican army and independence for Texas

Anson Jones

• The Angel of Goliad -helped some Texans escape the massacre.
• He was one of three Tejanos who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence.
• President of Texas when it 1st became a state. Also 4th. and final pesident of the Republic of Texas.
• Nickname for Texas after it won independence from Mexico in 1836. ( because of the single white star on the flag.)
