     Shakira could feel the difference from the first minute she stepped into the classroom on Monday morning. She felt as if she stood out like a sore thumb. With icy eyes, Eva and Willa followed Shakira’s movement into the room, but they didn’t smile at her. The other kids didn’t even look at her. "Why did I ever want to be Eva’s friend?" she asked herself.
