• He realizes what a dangerous situation he's gotten himself into, and that he will likely not survive

What is theme?

• The underlying message the author is trying to teach you
• The main idea of the plot
• The entire plot of the story
• A summary of the story written by the author

Why is an AHA moment a way to tell the theme?

• The character fails to learn a valuable lesson
• The reader can understand the plot better
• The character suddenly realizes the life-lesson, and that helps the reader learn the lesson
• The theme has nothing to do with AHA moments, but with contrasts and contradictions
