What is an Idiom

• Figurative language that means something different than its individual words

• Part of the climax but before the end.

• The Challenges a character needs to achieve their goal.

What is Falling Action?

• The challenges a character needs to overcome and acheive their goal.

• Part of the Narrative after the climax but before the end.

• Time period, place and circumstance

What are 4 main conflicts?

• man vs man, man vs machine, man vs nothing, man vs science

What is rising action?

• Time and Space.

• Decisions/conflicts that lead to the climax

What is the setting?

• Time and place

• Words that say exactly what they mean.

• Comparison that does not use like or as.

What is a metaphor?

• Comparison using like or as.

• Comparision NOT using like or as.

• Comparing a thing to a person.

What is an Onomatopoeia?

• A word that sounds like the sound it describes.

• Words that don't make a sound.

• Two or more words beginning with the same consonant sound.

What is a rhyme?

• Two or more words beginning with the same consonant sound.

• Words that are exactly the opposite of one another.

• Words that end in a similar sound.

What is an Alliteration?

• Words that are exactly opposite one another.

• Two or more words beginning with the same consonant sound.

• A situation exactly the opposite of what you expect.

What is an antonym?

• More that one word with the same or similar meanings.

• Words that are exactly opposite in meaning.

• Saying the opposite of what you mean.
