The best thing about Anna's house was the old, old tree in the back yard. Anna loved this tree because of its wrinkly bark and its unusual shape. Her favorite thing about it was the big knothole near its roots. Inside was a dry little cave where Anna sometimes kept her diary. One day, when Anna went outside to sit underneath the old tree and write in her diary, she was surprised to find that the diary was not alone.
