MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION
1 min • 1 pt
Janel loaded her backpack for her first day at a new school. At the last minute, she threw in her sketch pad and pencils. When Janel got to school, she looked enviously at all the kids who had obviously known one another for a long time. Janel wondered if she'd ever fit in. A couple of times, she opened her mouth to talk to someone, but nothing came out. When Janel got to her homeroom, she took out her sketch pad and started to draw the teacher who was fussing with a camera at her desk. By the time the bell rang, the classroom was full. Janel overheard a couple kids commenting on her drawing. Her face turned red, and she quickly closed the pad."Good morning class," said the teacher when the bell rang. "I had planned to take pictures of all of you for a get-acquainted activity, but my camera is jammed.""Ms. Polsky, Ms. Polsky," said a boy, waving his hand furiously. "This new girl," he said pointing to Janel, "is a really good artist. Maybe she could draw pictures instead."Janel slid down in her seat. Her face got even redder than before. But before she could protest, Janel was surrounded by classmates who were admiring her work.So Janel did quick sketches of all her classmates. Ms. Polsky wrote the students' names on the pictures and hung them up around the room. That's how Janel got to know the names and faces of her classmates -- and they got to know hers, too.
If I was writing a summary, what would be the LEAST important detail?
Janel was new and did not know anyone at the new school.
The teacher had planned a getting-acquainted activity.
Janel drew pictures of all of her classmates.
Janel’s teacher wanted to take pictures, but her camera jammed.

MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTION
1 min • 1 pt
As Bobby was getting ready for bed, he heard a loud screeching coming from the barn outside. Bobby did not know what was making such a loud noise, and he had trouble falling asleep that night. He was scared that there might be a monster in the barn. When Bobby woke up the next morning, he went to the barn to see what was causing the noise the night before. Bobby was perplexed and could not figure out what would make such a noise. That night after dinner, Bobby got a flashlight and headed out to the barn. "Where are you going?" Bobby's father asked. "I am going to find the monster in the barn that made so much noise last night," Bobby replied.
"If you are going to look for a monster, you might need company," Bobby's dad said, and he walked with Bobby out to the barn. Bobby shined his flashlight into the dark barn but did not see anything. Bobby called out but nothing answered. He walked into the barn but still did not see a monster. "What did this monster sound like?" Bobby's dad asked. "It was a loud screeching noise," Bobby said, "and it was coming from the barn." Bobby's dad began to laugh and he took the flashlight from Bobby. Shining the flashlight up at the roof of the barn, Bobby and his dad saw a small brown owl in the rafters of the roof. "It was only a barn owl that you heard last night," Bobby's dad said. "They are nocturnal hunters, so that is why you only heard him at night." Bobby was happy that it wasn't a monster, and he thanked his dad as they walked back to the house. Just then they heard a loud screech and looked up to see the barn owl flying away into the night sky.
If I was writing a summary, what would be the MOST important detail?
Bobby and his dad shine the flashlight and see an owl.
Bobby’s dad begins to laugh at Bobby.
Bobby’s dad explains to Bobby about nocturnal hunters.
Bobby thanks his dad for being so helpful.
