Launching Recess and Lunch

Respect others * During recess, we show respect by

• sharing equipment

• taking turns

• using kind words

• play fighting

If someone wants to join your game, you can respectfully

• invite them to play

• explain the rules

• make space for them

• scream in their face to go away

Understand We're Here to Learn Even though recess is fun, we're still at school to learn. We can learn by

• trying new appropriate games

• practicing good sportsmanship

• solving conflicts peacefully

• how to beat someone up

When you return from recess, be ready to

• focus on our next lesson

• share what you learned

• have a positive attitude

• make noises and beat on the desk and walls

Lead by Example. You can be a leader during recess by

• following the rules

• pushing and pulling on people

• helping others

• including everyone

If you see someone breaking a rule, you should

• hit them

• remind them kindly of what they should do

• tell a duty aid

• set a good example

Everyone is Safe. To keep everyone safe during recess, remember to

• walk to the playground

• use equipment properly

• throw water and food at people

• keep your hands to yourself

If you see someone who might be hurt or unsafe, you should

• tell an adult right away

• ask if they are ok

• offer to help

• try to carry them to the health office

In the cafeteria, we show respect by

• using indoor voices

• saying "please" and "thank you"

• disrespecting the cafeteria staff

• cleaning up after ourselves

If the cafeteria is busy, you can respectfully

• wait patiently in line

• make room for others at the table

• help someone carry their tray

• throw your trash on the floor
