What is a thesis statement?

• One sentence at the end of an essay that sums up your ideas

• A sentence used to grab the reader's attention

• One sentence that states your claim about the prompt and gives two reasons why

• A high-level sentence that shares your ideas about evidence from the text

Before I include a piece of text evidence, I have to introduce the quote by saying... "In the ____ __ ____..."

What is a hook sentence?
