Once upon a time, there was a poor fisherman named Tom. Every day, he went to the river to catch fish. One day, he caught a golden fish that could talk.

"Please let me go," said the fish. "I will give you anything you want."

Tom was surprised but kind. "I don’t need anything," he said, and he let the fish go.

When Tom returned home, he found his small house had turned into a big and beautiful house. His wife was very happy. But after a few days, she wanted more. "Go back to the fish and ask for gold!" she said.

Tom went back to the river and called the fish. The fish appeared, and Tom told it what his wife wanted. The fish sighed but gave the gold.

His wife was happy, but soon she wanted to be a queen. Tom went back again to ask the fish. This time, the fish looked sad. "Go home," it said. When Tom returned, everything was gone. His wife and house were back to how they were before.

Tom learned to be happy with what he had.
