The following text is for questions 8 and 9.
The Bekantan's Life in the Wild Last week, I had the opportunity to learn about the Bekantan, a unique primate that lives in the wild, particularly in the mangrove forests of Borneo and Sumatra. I was amazed to discover that Bekantan, also known as the proboscis monkey, can live up to 15 years in the wild. This is quite impressive, considering their challenges in their natural habitat. Sadly, the main threat to the Bekantan’s survival is deforestation. The destruction of the mangrove forests due to human activities like logging and land conversion for agriculture is rapidly reducing their habitat. As the forest disappears, the Bekantans lose their homes, making it harder for them to find food and shelter. We must understand the challenges these incredible creatures face and work toward protecting their habitat to ensure that future generations can see these amazing animals in the wild.
What is the average lifespan of Bekantan in its natural habitat?
