Part B: Write a well-organized essay that includes an introduction, several body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Use evidence from at least four documents in your essay. Support your response with relevant facts, examples, and details. Include additional outside information. Historical Context: When World War I began in 1914, it was widely believed that the fighting would be over quickly. Sadly, it soon became clear that the fighting would continue for some time and result in massive casualties. Although the United States attempted to avoid involvement in the war, by 1917 they joined the Allied Powers. Task: Using information from AT LEAST four documents and your knowledge of social studies, answer all the document questions in Part A and use the answers in your Part B Essay in which you will be asked to: ◻ Describe the causes of World War I ◻ Describe the conditions in the trenches during World War I ◻ Explain why the United States entered World War I. In your essay, be sure to: ∙ Develop all aspects of the task ∙ Incorporate information from at least four documents ∙ Incorporate relevant outside information ∙ Support theme with relevant facts, examples, and details ∙ Use a logical and clear plan of organization, including an introduction and a conclusion that are beyond a restatement of the Historical Context.
