Leonardo da Vinci
1452 - 1519
Early years
Painter, sculptor, architect, designer, theorist, engineer and scientist, Leonardo da Vinci created some of the most famous images in European art. Though many of his works were never finished, and even fewer have survived, he influenced generations of artists and he continues to be revered as a universal genius.
Leonardo was born near the Tuscan hill-town of Vinci. An illegitimate child, he was raised by his paternal grandfather. His father had a flourishing legal practice in the city of Florence, where Leonardo received his early artistic training with the sculptor Andrea Verrocchio.
Verrocchio's workshop undertook a wide range of commissions including sculpture and decorative metalwork as well as paintings.

Peter: Hey, Lisa, have you heard about the crying tradition before weddings in China?
Suzy: No, I haven't! What is it about?
Peter: Well, while many cultures see weddings as joyful celebrations, in China, the bride actually cries for a month leading up to the wedding.
Suzy: Really? Why does she cry?
Peter: It’s a way for her to express her emotions. After a few days, she joins her mother and other family members to celebrate her upcoming marriage.
Suzy: That sounds interesting! So, it starts with sadness but ends in joy?
Peter: Exactly! It’s a unique way to show both emotions during this important time.
Suzy: What a fascinating tradition!

Read the text(s) and answer the questions.
Are video games a good way to keep fit?
Nowadays, many teenagers probably play video games. It is a good way to keep our brain working by playing games, like puzzle games or games which we have to use our brain to win. However, there will be consequences if we cannot control our wills or wishes to play games.
First of all, playing games is one good way to keep our brain fit, but not physically. We need to do exercises, play football or volleyball outdoors to get a healthy lifestyle. In my opinion, playing online video games can reduce stress and cure loneliness, because we can play with our online friends through online video games. Therefore, we don't have to be worried if we don't have any friends; all we have to do is play online video games and make friends online. It is what most teenagers do these days.
Some people think that playing video games can get you fit, but I strongly disagree with that. Playing video games is not like doing exercises or playing football to get fit. All you need to do is just sit down, grab the controller and play. That is it.
To sum up, I think playing video games cannot get you physically fit. If you want to get fit, just go outdoors, do exercises or play outdoor activities like playing football or volleyball. It is as easy as that. Playing video games is possibly not good for your health at some points because your lifestyle is idle most of the time. To get a better life, go outdoors, make friends and give time to nature as well.
