• call for a recess

If the motion has a majority aye vote then:

• Debate continues

• Debate is over and the bill authors give their summation speech

• The bill is sent back to committee

• The chairperson calls for a division

If the motion has a majority nay vote then:

• The bill is automatically passed

• Debate (con/pro) continues until time for debate has expired

• The bill is vetoed

• The chairperson adjourns the meeting

How long should the bill author's summary speech be?

• 5 minutes or more

• 1 minute or less

• 3 minutes exactly

If you are in committee only, what can be added to your bill?

• A new bill

• Amendments (changes you propose or someone in the room proposes)

• A motion to postpone
