Stands for Extensible Markup Language, is a markup language

much like HTML used to describe data. In Android we use xml for designing our layouts because xml is lightweight language so it doesn't

make our layout heavy.

than functions and logic. An object can be defined as a data field that

has unique attributes and behavior.

is an integer value that uniquely identifies the framework API

revision offered by a version of the Android platform.

 is the package file format used by the

Android operating system, and a number of other Android-based

operating systems for distribution and installation of mobile apps,

mobile games and middleware.

is one screen of the Android app's user interface. In that way

an Android activity is very similar to windows in a desktop application.

An Android app may contain one or more activities, meaning one or

more screens.a

 is a user's portable working environment that gives them

access to the applications, files and services they need to do their job

no matter where they are.

 is a build system (open source) which is used to automate

building, testing, deployment etc.

“Build.gradle” are scripts where one

can automate the tasks.

It helps to declare the permissions that an app must have to

access data from other apps. It also specifies the app’s package name

that helps the Android SDK while building the app. And provides

information such as activities, services, broadcast receivers, and

content providers of an android application.

Base class for activities that wish to use some

of the newer platform features on older Android devices.

is used to pass data between activities. The values

that are to be passed are mapped to String keys which are later used

in the next activity to retrieve the values.
