Woodshop Safety

Eye protection must be worn:

• Only when working at a machine.

• At all times when working in the woodshop.

• When teacher reminds me.

If I see a classmate violating a safety rules, I can..

• call them out loudly in a rude way

• politely remind them to follow the safety rules

If you get injured but are still feeling ok, do you still need to report it?

Proper footwear for the woodshop is:

• Work boots

• Any type of shoe

• Shoes must cover the toes, heel, and top of the foot

Choose the proper clothing for woodshop.

• School lanyards

• Open-toed shoes

• Dangly jewelry

• Rolled up sleeves and tucked in clothing

I understand that if I do not follow the safety rules and procedures I will:

• Greatly increase the possibility of injury.

• Lose my privilege to work on machines.

• All of the above.

Those students allowed to work in the shop are:

• Anyone with previous experience

• Only individuals that have completed their safety and training tests

• Anyone that thinks they know how

The FIRST priority when working at a machine is:

• That I don't make any mistakes

• That I watch other people around me

• That I am always thinking about safety

Equipment and tools available for you to use are:

• Only tools and machines that I have been instructed in how to use.

• Any tool in the shop

• Any tool or machine that I can figure out how to use.

Materials for projects is not provided, except for:

• Anything I can find in the shop

• Materials left out on the bench tops

• Wood that is given to me by the instructor
