Historically, Epeoloides pilosulus was distributed across eastern and central North America; however, recorded observations declined significantly after the early 20th century—with the last confirmed U.S. record dating to 1942. Subsequent sightings have been limited and sporadic, including documentation in Nova Scotia in 2002 and two male specimens recorded in Wisconsin in 2019. The 2022 finding represents a rare instance of species confirmation within the region—only the second since 1910.
