Where does the decimal point HAVE to go in scientific notation?

• Before the last digit

  Ex: 64.1

The exponent that is above the 10 in scientific notation represents what?

• What is an exponent?

• The number of zeros

• The number of spaces the decimal was moved

If you do not see a decimal in a number, where is it hidden? Example: in the number 104,000. Where is the decimal?

• At the very end of the number.

  Ex: 104,000.
