This video from Mumu Math and Science explains the difference between genotype and phenotype. Genotype refers to the genetic makeup of an organism, including its complete set of genes, known as the genome. The human genome consists of approximately 3 billion base pairs of DNA and about 20,000 to 25,000 genes, organized into 23 pairs of chromosomes. Genotype can also refer to the alleles, or different forms of a gene, that an organism carries. Examples include homozygous dominant, heterozygous, and homozygous recessive genotypes. Phenotype, on the other hand, is the expression of these genetic traits, such as eye color. The video concludes with a reminder to practice kindness.
