Andragogy, developed by Malcolm Knowles, is the art and science of adult learning. It contrasts with pedagogy, which focuses on teaching children. Knowles identified six principles of andragogy: self-concept, experience, readiness to learn, orientation to learning, motivation to learn, and the need to know. These principles emphasize adults' self-directed learning, the value of their life experiences, their readiness to learn when it meets a life need, a problem-oriented approach, internal motivation, and understanding the importance of learning. The video also suggests further reading and critiques of these principles.
