Elizabeth Cady Stanton, born in 1815, was a pivotal figure in the women's rights movement. Educated in law, she was inspired to challenge discriminatory laws against women. In 1848, she organized the Seneca Falls Convention, introducing the Declaration of Sentiments, which highlighted women's inferior status. She partnered with Susan B. Anthony, advocating for women's suffrage and legal rights. Despite their achievements, their exclusion of black women and frustration over black men's voting rights marred their legacy. Stanton died in 1902, having secured enhanced rights for married women in New York.
