Marie Curie, born in Poland in 1867, was a pioneering physicist and chemist. Despite early educational barriers, she excelled academically and moved to Paris to study at the Sorbonne. Curie, alongside her husband Pierre, discovered radioactivity and the elements polonium and radium, earning her two Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry. Her work laid the foundation for modern medical treatments using radiation. Curie's dedication to science came at a personal cost, as she died from leukemia due to prolonged radiation exposure.
