Two designers created a giant whale sculpture from five tonnes of ocean plastic waste to highlight the issue of plastic pollution. The project, first shown in Bruges, Belgium, aims to raise awareness about the 150 million tonnes of plastic in the oceans, which outweighs the total mass of whales. The designers, Lesley Chang and Jason Ku Maaske, collected plastic from Hawaii's shores and constructed the sculpture over 10 to 12 months. The whale, made from 107 parts, serves as a powerful visual reminder of the persistent problem of plastic waste and its impact on the environment.
