After WWII, Europe was divided into East and West, with many countries falling under Soviet influence. Greece, despite its proximity to communist nations, remained aligned with the West. Churchill, wary of Soviet dominance, devised a plan to counteract their influence, which included the Percentages Agreement with the USSR. This agreement divided influence in Europe, with Greece remaining under Western influence due to its strategic location. Stalin chose not to intervene in Greece, fearing U.S. involvement. Ultimately, Greece's position in the Western capitalist world was solidified by 1949.
