St. Clare of Assisi was born in 1194 and inspired by St. Francis to live a life of poverty and devotion. She joined the Benedictine convent and later founded the Order of Poor Ladies, known for their simple and secluded lifestyle. Clare performed a miracle by warding off attackers with the Blessed Sacrament. She was canonized in 1255, and her order was renamed the Order of St. Clare. She is the patron saint of television, eye disease, goldsmiths, and laundry, with her feast day on August 11th.
