Sanskrit is an Indo-Aryan language with significant cultural and religious importance in Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism. It is one of India's 22 scheduled languages and the official language of Uttarakhand. Sanskrit has influenced many modern languages in the Indian subcontinent, including those in India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. It remains in use today in religious rituals and is being revived in traditional institutions. The oldest surviving Sanskrit grammar is Panni's eighth chapter, which defines correct Sanskrit usage.
